Lead Project Engineer

Job Description Summary

The team owns the project control activity globally and drives consistent functional specifications and common global processes for project implementation. Activities are conducted to better understand or meet the expectations of the customer.

The role is responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline.

• Serve as the technical leader/manager to develop scope of work, plan schedule, and monitor engineering activities for customer projects.
• Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, and engineering sub-contractors.
• Direct people management including staffing and performance development.
• Utilize in-depth technical discipline knowledge, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
• Identify best practices and integrate own area with others, stay aware of competition and differentiators in the market.
• Apply judgment to propose solutions outside set parameters for complex manufacturing processes.
• Leverage internal and limited external resources to arrive at decisions.
• Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
• Possibly lead small low-risk projects.
• Explain information, develop skills to achieve team consensus, convey performance expectations, and handle sensitive issues.

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of SPECIFIC experience).
• Minimum of 3 years of SPECIFIC experience.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
• Established project management skills.
