Position Summary

K  is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in Dayton, OH. This position can be onsite or remote. K  solves the toughest problems for our clients by extracting insight from data, delivering greater decision confidence, and improving processes. Our analysts are involved in a wide range of activities that range from understanding and transforming data, applying state‑of‑the‑art analytic techniques, and driving business impact through insight visualization.

Our analysts are leveraged across a range of projects, such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, business process improvement, and application development. K  analysts collaborate with Operations Research Analysts, Software Development Professionals, Data Architects, and Subject Matter Experts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute analytical experiments methodically to help solve various problems and make a true impact across various domains and industries.
  • Research and apply state‑of‑the‑art artificial intelligence methods and innovative statistical models.
  • Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables.
  • Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Develop code for predictive/prescriptive models with applied machine learning and other modeling techniques.
  • Clearly document and present methodology, assumptions, and findings to stakeholders.
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams to improve business outcomes.
  • Deliver in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented work environment.
  • Adapt quickly to changing needs across several core areas, including data wrangling, data exploration, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Articulate trade‑offs between analytic techniques, recommend a course of action to clients, and provide effective updates on project outcome uncertainty to leadership.
  • Hands‑on experience performing analysis to solve problems.
  • Discovering insights hidden in large data sets.
  • Using a variety of advanced analysis methods, data tools, and models.
  • Using/creating algorithms and/or running simulations.
  • Testing the effectiveness of different courses of action.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or related field
  • 5+ yrs experience in Data Science or Data analysis
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R
  • Experience with AI frameworks like Tensor Flow or Py Torch
  • Familiarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and Large Language Models (LLM)
  • Developing data pipelines to support Analytics
  • Applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques
  • Documenting and communicating results of analysis
  • Familiarity with SQL and BI Tools (Tableau, Qlik etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Hands‑on experience with driving analytic insights and workflow automation.
  • Must have the ability and motivation to self‑teach in order to stay current with leading best practices in analytics.
  • Candidates must be able to tackle difficult problems, specifically working with artificial intelligence.
  • Expected to have data wrangling skills.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
