Roles and ResponsibilitiesThis position is a software-focused Systems Engineering role supporting the development, integration, and documentation of complex software systems. The engineer will work closely with software developers and technical teams to understand C++-based applications and algorithms, document system architecture and interfaces, develop technical flow diagrams, and support Agile software development activities. You will work directly with engineers, program managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and government representatives to gather and validate technical data.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience developing technical publications.
- Working knowledge of publication standards, Jira, Confluence, and document version tracking
- Produce system maintenance manuals, software operator manuals, or similar defense-related technical documentation.
- Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical publications in accordance with applicable Government standards.
- Produce and update manuals, documentation, and other support materials.
- Work directly with engineers, program managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and government representatives to gather and validate technical data.
- Update and revise legacy documents.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, publishing standards, and configuration management processes.
- Support technical reviews and verification activities to ensure software and system documentation accurately reflects system architecture, interfaces, requirements, and implementation.
- Maintain configuration and version control of engineering documentation and support the development, review, approval, and timely delivery of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical publishing tools.
- Strong understanding of document control, versioning, and configuration management processes.
- Experience writing for proposals and with the Shipley Proposal method.
- Experience supporting U.S. Air Force MASINT analytical tool suites or similar platforms.
- Advanced experience with DEW systems, including publishing, validation, and troubleshooting IETMs.
- Strong working knowledge of XML schemas, tagging, and data module structures used in Air Force technical manuals.
- Experience supporting MIL-STD compliant deliverables through full lifecycle development and updates.
- Familiarity with RF MASINT or Laser data, provisioning, and logistics product development.
- Experience participating in or leading Validation and Verification (V&V) events with government customers.
