Kinetics AFSIM Analyst​/Engineer

Position Summary

Leidos’ Defense Systems Kinetics Business Area is seeking an AFSIM Analyst/Engineer to join the Strategic High‑speed Advanced Development Organization. The role applies domain knowledge to integrated digital engineering for conceptual system development, providing operational analysis and military utility assessments for defense. The analyst evaluates combat weapon systems using tools such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, or Modeling (AFSIM), Python, and in‑house post‑processing tools, impacting DoD mission decisions and investment guidance.

• 4‑8 years of experience utilizing the AFSIM analytical framework for operational analyses.
• Experience performing operational analyses for the Department of Defense.
• Knowledge of U.S. and foreign combat weapon systems, including aircraft and ground‑based air defense systems.
• Problem‑solving skills to overcome engineering or code development challenges.
• Ability to distill, summarize, and articulate complex technical insights.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Ability to travel on an as‑needed basis.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science. In lieu of a degree, a high‑school diploma with a minimum of 8 years of experience is acceptable.

• 4+ years of experience using AFSIM for mission modeling.
• 8+ years of experience with data analytics or software development.
• Experience with the Linux operating environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with AFRL’s Digital Lab Environment.
• Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
• Experience with security best practices in C++ development.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
