Job Description Summary

Unison, a GE Aerospace company, is the leading provider of differentiated engine controls, accessories, and performance monitoring solutions in the Aerospace, Defense & Space segments. Serving both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers, Unison designs, manufactures and supplies the most advanced components and systems in the world. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing and improving the quality of materials, components, and processes provided by an assigned supplier base.

This role partners closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance to company, customer, and regulatory requirements through qualification, surveillance, audits, issue resolution, and continuous improvement. The SQE develops and maintains quality processes that ensure supplied product and related projects are capable and consistently meet specified standards.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Own quality assurance and control for an assigned supply chain, customers, products, and/or process areas, including:
    Supplier qualification and selection. Evaluate suppliers’ quality systems, manufacturing capability, and performance. Participate in supplier selection and sourcing decisions; provide recommendations and risk assessments.
  • Supplier quality assurance and compliance. Develop, implement, and sustain supplier quality assurance processes and procedures. Ensure supplier compliance to applicable requirements, including engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and other technical documentation. Review supplier technical/quality documentation and serve as an approval authority where required.
  • Audit and assessment. Plan and conduct supplier audits and process assessments. Identify gaps and partner with suppliers to implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
  • Nonconformance and problem resolution. Lead investigations into supplier nonconformances, escapes, and material/process issues. Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Performance monitoring and reporting. Monitor supplier performance using KPIs/metrics (e.g., quality, delivery, escape rate, responsiveness). Provide routine reporting and executive-ready summaries on supplier quality health, risk, and improvement plans.
  • Continuous improvement. Drive supplier improvement plans to reduce defects, variation, rework, and total cost. Support application of Lean principles and best practices within supplier processes.
  • Cross-functional collaboration. Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure supplier quality aligns with program and business requirements. Facilitate timely communication between suppliers and internal teams to support business needs.
  • Leadership and autonomy. Serve as a resource/mentor for less experienced colleagues; may lead small projects with limited risk and scope. Operate with some autonomy within established functional practices and policies; may adapt procedures to achieve required outcomes (quality, timeliness, volume). Apply sound judgment and analytical thinking to resolve day-to-day issues and recommend solutions outside set parameters when needed.
Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of 3 years of supplier quality, quality engineering, or ownership of quality assurance/control for supply chain and product/process areas.
  • A High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of supplier quality, quality engineering, or ownership of quality assurance/control for supply chain and product/process areas.

  • Supplier quality management experience (aerospace or manufacturing preferred)
