The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting team by computing, analyzing, recording and verifying data for use in accounts receivable accounting records as well as providing backup coverage of accounts payable transaction entry and payment processing. Ensures accurate accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions are made timely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes computerized accounting software programs (ERP System, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
- Research customer payment discrepancies and past‑due amounts with the assistance of accounting team members.
- Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
- Provide backup support for accounts payable functions such as validating and entering vendor invoices including general ledger coding, as well as generating payments to vendors via check and ACH.

Required
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and AR/AP transaction entry.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word) and experience working with accounting ERP software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a team‑based environment.
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience with mid-tier ERP or accounting systems (e.g., Net Suite, MAS 200, Sage, Acumatica).
- Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce
- Interest in process improvement, automation, or data analysis.
