The Program Aide is responsible for assisting programming staff with a variety of duties, including general clerical work, customer service, and program preparation of district-wide programming. The position performs a variety of tasks in the delivery of district-wide recreational programming related to sports, recreation centers, community and special events, fitness, education, and/or social programs and activities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Program Aide II positions receive general direction from a center supervisor or department manager and may provide lead direction for staff and volunteers as well as oversight on programs, events, and projects. The Program Aide II lead or assist with planning and coordination of meetings, special events and/or other programs.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Program Aide II learns district operations and systems and as experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Program Aide II positions are expected to exercise independent judgment within established guidelines and to develop recommendations as new or unusual situations arise.

The Equity & Engagement Aide will be classified as a Program Aide II.

The starting salary range for Program Aide II is $67,464.80 - $74,421.62.

The full salary range for Program Aide II is $67,464.80 - $82,039.88.

The position is scheduled Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm and is expected to be onsite at the HMT Administration Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, remote Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with exceptions.

  • Answer the multi-line telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel and take accurate messages.
  • Provide information on the phone, or in person, in response to inquiries such as program schedules, district services, and other general information. Assist in scheduling of staff and observations of program participants and/or classes.
  • Assist the general public with program enrollment by signing participants up for classes, receipting money and performing related registration procedures.
  • Prepare and/or proofread a variety of forms, letters, flyers, reports, promotional materials, etc. from rough draft or detailed instruction. Perform data-entry. Research and collect data for special projects and reports.
  • Research, purchase, inventory, and distribute program equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Perform filing duties and operate standard office equipment, including computer, calculator, fax, and copier.
  • Lead or assist in the monitoring and evaluation of program effectiveness in meeting established objectives; participate with management and community groups in developing program goals, policies and procedures;
    Maintain program records including program; prepare reports on program operations.
  • Ensure the safety of program participants and if necessary, provide first aid. Prepare and submit accident/incident reports.
  • Lead or assist with planning and coordination of meetings, special events and/or other programs.

IN ADDITION, WHEN ASSIGNED TO EQUITY & ENGAGEMENT
  • Support the administration of the financial aid program by processing applications, maintaining patron communication, representing the program at outreach events, and delivering presentations to promote district resources.
  • Provide support to the Equity & Engagement Department on special projects and programs, such as Centro de Bienvenida and initiatives that advance DEIA and Belonging.
