Trade Specialist
Location:
Beaverton, OR Duration: 12 months Hybrid:
Mon Thurs onsite, Fri remote

- Minimum required years of experience: 25 years of experience in customs, trade compliance, or supply chain operations
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or related field is required
- Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements and Rules of Origin
- Experience with product classification or customs documentation preferred
- Strong Excel/data analysis skills
- A second language would be highly preferred - Experience working across multiple countries or cultures, international exposure, or additional language skills highly desirable.
- Previous Client experience preference:
Not required. - Looking for people coming from customs brokers or firms like Deloitte. But highly open to someone who worked for a smaller company too.
- The Trade Specialist supports Free Trade Optimization (FTO) and customs compliance across APLA by ensuring accurate product data, classification, and FTA execution. This role translates product and sourcing information into compliant customs declarations, supports audits, and helps unlock duty savings through effective use of Free Trade Agreements and Special Trade Programs.
- The role requires working knowledge of key Free Trade Agreements in the APLA region including AJCEP, RCEP, AKFTA, CN-KR FTA, CPTPP, AIFTA, ACFTA, and AANZFTA and an understanding of Rules of Origin to determine eligibility for preferential duty treatment.
- Support the execution of Free Trade Optimization (FTO) to drive duty savings and ensure compliance across APLA by:
- Analyzing product and sourcing data to identify and support FTA opportunities
- Managing product attributes (ART) and ensuring accurate data in NTN
- Assigning and validating HTS classifications to support compliance and FTA eligibility
- Supporting compliance audits by reviewing key documents and resolving data gaps
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across APLA and Global Trade to ensure alignment between product data, sourcing decisions, and customs requirements.
- Key partners include:
- APLA Customs & Trade team (FTO, classification, and compliance)
- Global Trade teams supporting FTA programs and audits
- Product and sourcing teams managing BOM and material data
- Technology teams supporting systems such as Client Trade Net (NTN)
- External partners, including customs brokers and factory partners
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or related field
- 25 years of experience in customs, trade compliance, or supply chain operations
- Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements and Rules of Origin
- Experience with product classification or customs documentation preferred
- Strong Excel/data analysis skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working across multiple countries or cultures, international exposure, or additional language skills is a plus.
