Commodity Manager/Materials Program Manager

Starting base salary range of $105,000 to $120,000 (DOE)

What you’ll be doing as a Commodity Manager/Materials Program Manager:

The Commodity & Materials Program Manager is a cross‑functional supply‑chain role responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support both existing product portfolios and future product development initiatives.

This position combines the commercial responsibilities of a Commodity Manager with the supplier development and new product introduction responsibilities of a Materials Program Manager. The role serves as the primary interface and is heavily partnered with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and the supplier community to ensure supplier capabilities, technologies, capacity, quality, and cost structures support both current business objectives and future product roadmaps.

The Commodity & Materials Program Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, qualifying, and managing suppliers that provide components, assemblies, OEM products, finished goods, materials, and manufacturing technologies critical to the company’s growth strategy.

The role leads supplier engagement from early concept development through production launch while driving supplier performance, cost competitiveness, risk mitigation, and long‑term strategic partnerships.

Common responsibilities for both Commodity Management and Materials Program Manager:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive commodity strategies aligned with business and product objectives
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to ensure supplier capabilities align with product roadmaps
  • Lead supplier scouting activities for emerging technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and strategic capabilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to support future product development or OEM initiatives
  • Manage supplier portfolios for assigned commodities, materials, and OEM products
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, contracting, pricing, inventory strategies, service levels, and long‑term supply arrangements
  • Coordinate supplier readiness plans and qualification activities to support development milestones
  • Develop contingency plans and alternate sourcing strategies for all scenarios within NPI, HVM, and OEM spaces
  • Routinely conduct supplier capability assessments covering technical expertise, manufacturing readiness, scalability, quality systems, and financial stability
  • Manage supplier transitions, product transfers, and end‑of‑life activities to meet customer expectations
  • Lead supplier business reviews and performance management processes

Commodity Management:
  • Establish long‑term sourcing roadmaps that support product, manufacturing, and business growth requirements
  • Monitor market conditions, capacity constraints, cost drivers, and emerging technologies
