Assistant Superintendent
A well-established general contractor is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support commercial special projects throughout the Greater Portland market. This role works closely with the Superintendent and Project Management team to coordinate field operations, subcontractors, scheduling, and quality control on fast-paced renovation and tenant improvement projects.
The ideal candidate has commercial construction experience, enjoys being in the field, and is looking to grow into a Superintendent role with a company known for delivering high-quality commercial projects and maintaining long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Support daily field operations on commercial renovation and tenant improvement projects
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and material deliveries
- Assist with three-week look-ahead schedules and trade sequencing
- Monitor project progress and communicate schedule impacts to project leadership
- Review drawings and specifications to identify field coordination issues
- Support quality control and ensure work meets project specifications
- Maintain jobsite safety and enforce OSHA and company safety standards
- Participate in subcontractor meetings and daily field coordination
- Maintain daily reports, field documentation, and project logs
- Assist with punch list completion and project closeout activities
- Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to maintain project schedules and client expectations

- 3–7+ years of commercial construction experience
- Experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Lead Foreman, Field Engineer, or similar field leadership role
- Commercial tenant improvement and renovation experience required
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software preferred
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
