Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Apparel Designer (Uniforms) [AQ-11766]

We are looking for an Apparel Designer to work on uniforms. This will be a 6-month remote or hybrid engagement, slated to start in mid-August. Candidates must be proficient in Illustrator and have strong past professional experience working on uniforms.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:
In this freelance apparel (uniform) design project, you’ll partner with the NCAA cross-functional Triad to convert nearly 300 Men’s and Women’s NCAA uniforms into a new uniform innovation chassis, with oversight and guidance from the Field Sports & Collegiate Design team. You’ll also partner with Product Management to understand team conversion prioritization and collaborate with Development on how best to execute the transition of existing designs from the old uniform chassis to the innovation chassis.

Weekly or Bi-weekly check-ins to review progress, troubleshoot problem areas, and confirm translation execution with the cross-functional team will be critical for completing the work.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.

• 5+ years of relevant work experience in a design environment working with materials, trims, design, and fit

• Outstanding ability to apply foundational design skills, including illustrations across analog and digital platforms.

• Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, while Vizcom/3D/Miro experience is a plus.

• Graphic Design expertise; ability to create simple graphic schematics for sublimation artwork is also a plus.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven success collaborating across cross-functional teams and presenting work to stakeholders

• Demonstrates creative agility, positive attitude, self-awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities of varying complexity through ambiguity to completion.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:

• The design conversion of existing designs into a new uniform chassis, requiring new Apparel PR & Uniform ‘Line Art’ creation

• For some designs, simple sublimation creation or existing sublimation update schematic work will be required (potentially some trim schematic work as well), which will require partnership with the client’s internal PA Studio team to execute this work in tandem with the Apparel PR and Line Art file creation

• A unique aspect of this project is that our conversion strategy includes the simplification of many of the existing uniform designs, and some translations may require more significant change to aesthetic/graphic design elements of the existing design. This complexity will require oversight from & check- ins with the client’s NCAA BB Design, Development, and PM partners on a regular weekly or bi-weekly basis.

This is a specific scope of work, expected to be completed in around 6 months (or less) depending on weekly hours.
