Job Description:

- Expected contract length: 6 months
- Team details & who they will work with:
Streetwear for apparel, taking garments from concept design to factory commercialization production, they'll be creating the technical patterns used by factories for production
Top must-have skills include the following:
- Experience in pattern design with material including:
Hardwovens, denim, twill, jackets, fixed waist bands, similar to Carhearts - Leading fit sessions, writing fit comments and notes
- Portfolio: technical design pattern examples for apparel design, jackets or pants patterns are ideal, must have lifestyle apparel
Software/technical requirements:
- PCX
- CLO
- Previous client/industry experience preference:
Yes, if it's in lifestyle wear. Athletic wear experience is not transferable to this role
Responsibilities:
- The nature of the work is focused on research and development of products from conception to retail to meet the needs of accounts and consumers.
- Collaborates with Marketing/Design to interpret design concept into 2-dimensional patterns.
- Consults with product triad to clarify concepts and lend pattern-making and fit technical expertise.
- Creates first models from concept pictures. Incorporates styling and fit changes determined by design/marketing/development during fit sessions or design process. Inspects and critiques samples.
- Creates and/or revises product specifications with construction details for production.
- Ensures specifications detail construction methods that optimizes profitability.
Education:
Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
Note:
One of the following alternatives may be accepted:
PhD or Law 3 yrs;
Masters 4 yrs;
Associates degree 6 yrs;
High School 7 yrs.
Nice to have skills:
- 3D software design experience
- Pattern design, apparel construction, designing patterns for factory production
- Can take constructive criticism well, is a team player

We're looking for a Technical Designer with expertise in construction, fit standards, textiles, trims and graphics to be part of our creative team. The ideal candidate needs to be a creative problem-solver, strategic thinker and have strong project management capabilities – they can communicate effectively & demonstrate credibility and reliability. The Technical Designer will support the team with technical recommendations that serve our consumers and communicate issues or offering solutions in a fast-paced environment.
The Technical Designer owns the fit and construction from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned styles to lead to on-time development and delivery according to critical dates, product specification, and sustainability, performance and profitability goals.
We are looking for someone who is optimistic, self-aware, embraces change, and holds their decisions and actions accountable, values and respects the opinions of their teammates, and embraces the diversity of people, ideas and cultures.
- Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science or related field.
- Additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 8 years technical design experience in the apparel industry, which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.
- Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.
- Experience interpreting design intent, offering alternative solutions, and acting as a technical resource.
- Expert in writing product specs and construction standards instructions.
- Proficient working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs.
