Are you passionate about nature, education, and behind‑the‑scenes work that brings meaningful programs to life? Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is seeking a Program Support (Environmental Education) professional to help plan, coordinate, and implement engaging nature‑based programs at the Tualatin Hills Nature Center.
This role plays a vital part in supporting nature preschool, summer camps, events, and environmental education programs by managing logistics, schedules, materials, and program details that ensure high‑quality experiences for children and families. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and enjoys project coordination in a dynamic, nature‑focused environment, while working collaboratively with educators, staff, and patrons to connect the community with the natural world.
Keycomponents of the job include (but are not limited to):
- Assist in the implementation of nature activities, programs, and events to meet stated objectives; develop work plans; allocate resources; develop schedules to accomplish program goals.
- Provide lead direction to assigned part‑time employees, including assigning and directing work, developing individual work schedules, and providing training. Monitor, motivate, and coach part‑time employees.
- Assist with the coordination of activities, programs and projects with other district programs and staff.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of program effectiveness in meeting established objectives.
- Lead or co‑lead activities when necessary, to keep programs running smoothly and ensure a positive experience for participants.
- Actively promote, model, and support diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the workplace.
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and two (2) years relevant experience in nature or environmental education, including lived experience.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record
- Bilingual Spanish language skills
- A background in nature or environmental education
We are hiring for a part‑time year‑round position that may be scheduled 25‑29 hours per week. Hours are typically Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm but will include some evenings and weekends.
This position may be eligible for multiple positions within the same classification that have the same job duties and qualifications. Any changes between part‑time, year‑round and part‑time, seasonal positions require a 13‑week break in service.
Pay & Position InformationThe hiring range for this position is $27.00 - $30.44
, based on experience and internal equity. The full hourly range for this job classification is $27.00 - $30.44. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
