Valley Catholic Elementary Schoolis seeking an energetic, flexible,responsible and caring individual to provide full-time support to classroom teachers for the  school year.

Essential Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher(s) in preparing materials, teaching aids, bulletin boards and equipment for direct instructional activity, including locating, copying, collating, distributing, and/or grouping materials supporting instructional activities planned by the teacher.
  • Schedule space for specialized instructional programs and coordinate the arrangement of equipment, desks, tables, chairs and activity areas.
  • Assist the teacher in preparing for changing curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse cultural and socio---economic backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Confer with teacher on progress of students.
  • Provide lunch support regularly.
  • Serve as substitute teacher when necessary.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of school procedures and policies
  • Ability to adapt to different situations and schedules.
  • Knowledge of the techniques and procedures used in working with a targeted student population.
  • Ability to plan and/or implement instructional activities.

Preferred

Skills:

  • Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
  • Provide student supervision before, during and after school while they are loading and unloading buses, on the playground, in the cafeteria, in a learning or practice situations, following appropriate training as assigned.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of student records.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s or higher degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to assist in instruction in core subjects.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
