Orenco Music is seeking passionate and engaging Music Teachers to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who loves teaching music, believes learning should be fun, and is committed to helping students grow as musicians and individuals. Teachers at Orenco Music provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships with students and families, collaborate with colleagues on performances and events, and make every student feel valued and supported.

The teacher will develop engaging, structured lessons using their existing library of curriculum and instructional materials to meet diverse student needs. This position requires strong communication, great classroom management, and a collaborative spirit to work with other teachers and staff.

This role starts at 2-3 days per week, with a clear pathway to grow into a 5-day-per-week position. This is an ideal role for someone seeking a long-term career in music education. Opened in 2026, Orenco Music is a new school built on decades of local teaching experience, with an established student community, collaborative faculty, and a strong reputation among area schools and music educators. In addition to delivering high quality, fun, weekly one-on-one and group lessons, our teachers team up to host collaborative student concerts with 100+ student performers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Music Teacher, you will:

  • Teach music classes. Lead engaging one-on-one and/or group music classes that help students gain proficiency at their chosen instrument and music in general.
  • Develop lesson plans. Create and implement lesson plans that cover playing the instrument, music theory, and different types of music.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback. Evaluate student progress and offer constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues. Work with other school teachers to plan collaborative student performances.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment. Establish a supportive learning environment that encourages creativity, respect, and a love for music.
Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for the role, candidates should have:

Instrumental music skills:
Expertise on their musical instrument(s) and general knowledge of music theory, history, and appreciation

Curriculum: A robust library of sheet music including a mix of books, song transcriptions, technique pages, self-created worksheets, etc.

Communication skills:
Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues school teachers.

Classroom management:
Ability to lead classes effectively and create a positive learning environment.

Interpersonal skills:
Excellent ability to connect with students, build rapport, and inspire their interest in music.

Organizational skills:
Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and music curriculum in both the short and long term.

Timeliness: A keen sense of arriving on time, followed by starting and ending subsequent 30 and 60 minute classes on time.

Flexibility:
Adaptability to work with people of various ages and accommodate diverse student needs.

Qualifications that are preferred but not required

Education:

A college degree in music education, music theory, or a related field.

Teaching

Experience:

Previous teaching experience in one-on-one or group settings.

Performance

Experience:

A history of performing music individually or in a group

Availability

Our hours are Monday through Friday 12PM-8PM, and Saturday-Sunday 10AM-6PM.…
