Instructional Designer – Retail Learning & Development

We are a global retail learning team focused on preparing frontline employees and store leaders for success—from onboarding through role-based certifications and ongoing development. We support retail locations worldwide with product, service, leadership, and operational training that helps teams ramp quickly, perform consistently, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Our team also supports a company-wide Areas of Expertise (AOE) framework that helps store leaders focus on the areas that drive the greatest business impact:
Team & Labor, Customer Experience & Training, Inventory & Operations, and Visual Merchandising. This work bridges global standards with the day-to-day realities of store operations, providing teams with the tools, knowledge, and confidence needed to execute successfully.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

We're looking for an Instructional Designer who can transform product, service, operational, and business initiatives into engaging learning experiences for frontline retail teams.

This role designs and develops training solutions that support onboarding, certification programs, operational readiness, and the Areas of Expertise (AOE) program. Key deliverables may include learning pathways, strategy guides, operational playbooks, activity guides, eLearning courses, and daily execution resources.

The ideal candidate is a curious researcher, skilled curriculum designer, and strong writer who can move seamlessly between digital and print learning formats. They understand how frontline employees learn, can simplify complex topics, and recognize the importance of content governance, version control, localization readiness, and quality assurance.

DELIVERABLES Content Creation

• Design and develop training modules, learning activities, facilitator guides, huddles, assessments, and certification content.
• Gather and incorporate stakeholder and reviewer feedback with efficiency and accuracy.
• Create content across multiple formats, including:
• eLearning courses
• Digital learning platforms
• Playbooks
• Job aids
• Quick-reference guides
• Workbooks
• Posters and communications materials

Publishing & Content Governance

• Support translation, localization, and quality assurance workflows for global deployment.
• Prepare finalized learning assets for publication across multiple learning and communication platforms.
• Manage content life cycles, source files, version control, and documentation repositories to ensure learning materials remain accurate, scalable, and current.
• Maintain governance standards that support both globally consistent content and regionally adaptable learning experiences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience designing learning solutions for retail, frontline, field-based, or customer-facing audiences.
• Strong instructional design expertise, including:
• Adult learning principles
• Learning objectives
• Curriculum design
• Blended learning methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with presentation and learning authoring tools, including PowerPoint and Articulate (or comparable platforms).
• Experience partnering with subject matter experts and business stakeholders to transform complex information into learner-friendly content.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and competing timelines.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience designing and deploying training programs for global audiences.
• Experience supporting localization and translation workflows across multiple geographies and regions.
• Familiarity with retail operations, store leadership, workforce management, customer experience, inventory operations, or visual merchandising.
• Experience with learning platforms and content authoring tools such as Articulate Rise 360, LMS platforms, and mobile learning applications.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted content development tools.
