Job Description

TEACHER ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT (TOSA) - SCHOOL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Additional Information

The Student Behavior Specialist will work directly with students to support positive behavior, foster a positive school climate, and promote emotional well-being. The Student Behavior Specialist will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure a safe and thriving learning environment to foster a strong sense of belonging. At Mountainside the Student Behavior Specialist serves as the Student Manager. The Student Behavior Specialist/Student Manager will preferably hold a valid school administrator license or actively working toward obtaining one.

This position also includes the responsibility of providing supervision and administrative support for some evening school activities and athletic events.

Purpose

The TOSA
- School Support Specialist supports the staff and school in achieving a positive school climate and sustaining high levels of student achievement at the school. The TOSA
- School Support Specialist cultivates and promotes a safe, learning-centered school environment. This is accomplished by aligning expected student and teacher behaviors using an Equitable Multi-Tiered System of Support and Restorative Practices. The TOSA
- School Support Specialist supports classroom teachers in student behavior management through universal Tier I interventions, Classroom Circles, and Restorative Conferencing. The TOSA
- School Support Specialist organizes and delivers school wide, small group, and individual professional development on Tier I Social Emotional Learning supports and Restorative Practices. The TOSA
- School Support Specialist coordinates and conducts Restorative Conferences among teachers and students. The result is a culture of high expectations for all students, supporting a district-level system that prioritizes all students' access to high quality academic and social emotional instruction.

Salary

$60,793- $121,804 annually based on 194 day contract (2026-27salary schedule, not including intern rate)
