VCES is seeking a K–5 Music Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year
. This position is responsible for providing high-quality, standards-based music instruction while supporting the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. The successful candidate will foster a faith-filled learning environment that promotes academic achievement, artistic expression, moral development, and a lifelong appreciation of music.

The Music Teacher will provide music instruction across grades K–5, including leading a youth ensemble for grades 1-5 and providing violin instruction to 4th-grade students. The teacher will create meaningful opportunities for students to develop musical skills, creativity, confidence, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation for the role of music in community and worship.

All faculty members are expected to actively participate in the life of the school community, including school Masses, prayer services, faith formation opportunities, parent engagement activities, community events, and school performances. The Music Teacher will collaborate with administration, faculty, staff, and families to support the academic, artistic, social, and spiritual development of students and to contribute positively to the faith-filled community of VCES.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based music instruction that supports the diverse academic, developmental, and musical needs of elementary students.
  • Provide violin instruction to 4th-grade students and lead a youth ensemble serving students in grades 1-5.
  • Create a safe, supportive, inclusive, and structured learning environment that encourages creativity, confidence, collaboration, and a love of music.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through ongoing observation, performance, and skill development, and communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and the school community.
  • Prepare students for and participate in school Masses, prayer services, community events, and evening performances throughout the academic year.
  • Foster positive relationships with students through daily interaction in classrooms, common areas, rehearsals, and school activities.
  • Supervise and support students while maintaining a positive, respectful, and well-structured learning environment.
  • Differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet varying learning styles, abilities, needs, and developmental stages of elementary-aged children.
  • Collaborate closely with administration, faculty, staff, and other school personnel to support student growth and contribute to the life and mission of the school community.
  • Encourage students to use their musical gifts as a means of personal expression, community building, and participation in the faith life of the school.
Successful Applicants should have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching license/certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Lead a youth ensemble for grades 1-5 and provide violin instruction to 4th-grade students.
  • Commitment to supporting and advancing the mission of Catholic education.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
