Job DescriptionThe Electronics Engineering Technician role focuses on diagnosing and resolving electronic failures in precision test and measurement equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electronics theory and practical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work down to the component level.
Responsibilities- Perform root‑cause analysis of electronic failures on complex products.
- Interpret and analyze schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams to isolate faults.
- Troubleshoot down to the component level using structured logic and systematic approaches.
- Utilize historical failure data, internal diagnostic tools, and test results to guide repair decisions.
- Apply electrical engineering principles to identify likely failure points.
- Operate electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, DMMs, power supplies) to validate repairs.
- Execute functional and performance tests post‑troubleshooting to confirm compliance with specifications.
- Support production floor and engineering teams with technical evaluations and failure analysis.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, including passive and active components.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or an equivalent qualification such as an Associate’s degree or military electronics experience.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and understand circuit functionality.
- Familiarity with common failure modes in electronic assemblies.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
- Knowledge of electronics fundamentals (Ohm’s Law, power supply formulas, op amp idealities, transistor formulas, etc.).
- Skill in component‑level troubleshooting.
- Logical fault isolation and pattern recognition.
- Component‑level knowledge, including the ability to identify components in schematics and understand their role in a circuit.
- Technical communication skills to explain findings clearly and relate symptoms, causes, and resolutions.
The work environment is a manufacturing and clean environment. This is an opportunity for an Engineering Technician to expand their career, or a BSEE graduate to gain experience in the industry and grow toward an EE role. Local talent to the Portland Metro area will be prioritized.
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based in Beaverton, OR.
Pay & BenefitsPay range: $25.00 – $35.00/hr.
