Lead Manufacturing Systems Engineer
- The Lead Manufacturing System Engineer is a pivotal role within Client's manufacturing engineering team, responsible for driving the development and implementation of foundational capabilities in Lean, Product Quality, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering. This position will lead and ensure alignment with CLIENT strategic manufacturing initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Minimum required years of experience:
- Quality assurance roles experience (10+ years)
- A bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications are preferred.
Must have skills:
- Garment industry experience
- Quality issue management experience
- Product Development experience.
- Manufacturing excellence experience (Process Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Data Analysis)
- External vendor relation experience (in our case external factories).
- Worked at Client or another major garment brand.
Software/technical requirements:
- Microsoft Office (must be proficient in Excel)
- Experience with GSD (General Sewing Data) in the garment industry is a pre-determined motion time system used to establish scientifically calculated, accurate, and consistent standard times for sewing operations. The method uses 36 elemental data codes (e.g., pick up, align, sew) to analyze and optimize methods, labor costs, and efficiency.
Your Main Responsibilities:
- Leadership:
Lead to develop and implement Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering principles within manufacturing partner base to elevate their overall capabilities. - Partnership:
Collaborate with the Product engineering, Quality engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and senior management teams to align and drive strategic manufacturing goals and continuous improvement objectives and to support the adoption of advanced quality capabilities. - Standards:
Liaise with Product Risk Engineering team and Product Integrity team (both based in World Headquarters) to deploy product performance standards and lead the standardization of manufacturing processes, ensuring consistency and efficiency across APAC partner base. - Manufacturing Readiness:
Leverage manufacturing integration, engineering tools and best practices with quality/process engineering to mitigate risk at production. - Manufacturing Capability:
Operate with world-class production, lean, quality, and engineering processes to ensure perfect product is made right at the first time. - Issues Management:
Support Issues Management team to conduct comprehensive review, analysis, and resolution of product issues. - Inspections & Audits:
Reference quality measurement and verification of post-production materials and product, to make informed product decisions.
What You Bring:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Quality engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of engineers.
- Proficiency in process engineering, with a track record of successful process improvement and optimization projects.
- Proficiency in GSD and background in factory capacity planning & management.
- A solid understanding of apparel manufacturing technologies and their application in enhancing operational efficiency and quality.
- Experience in implementing and sustaining Continuous Improvement Methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and organizational levels.
- A bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications are preferred.
