About This PositionThe Environmental Permitting and Compliance team ensures IPX’s projects are responsibly and safely executed, and operated. We secure and comply with project authorizations, manage utility development, and uphold environmental standards from construction through operations. By working across internal and external stakeholders, the team supports land stewardship, compliance assurance, and operational excellence.
The Environmental Compliance Lead will lead construction phase permit implementation, environmental and permitting compliance, and revegetation and restoration for assigned projects in construction and operations located in the United States. You’ll be responsible for project management, consultant management, contract negotiations, discretionary permit processing and acquisition, regulatory and permit compliance, and operations phase permit modifications for IPX’s projects. This position will be a member of the Environmental and Permitting team reporting directly to the Head of Environmental and Permitting and will work with third‑party EPCs and O&M providers, and internally with Development, Construction, Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, Community Engagement, EHS, Insurance, and Legal teams.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead strategy for permit compliance of operational assets including identification & implementation of compliance tracking solution(s)
- In coordination with the development permitting lead, manage permit and compliance requirements for all under‑construction assets
- Manage environmental permit compliance requirements for all operational assets
- Provide annual environmental trainings for onsite operations teams
- Direct the work of a network of external consultants in the scoping of biological, noise, and other resource surveys and the preparation of diligence documents (including legal counsel) necessary for operational environmental & permitting compliance
- Drive coordination with a network of geographically dispersed internal colleagues in the preparation of reporting requirements, environmental documents, and EPC/Operator contracts to ensure a complete and accurate scope of work is captured by environmental approvals
- On an as‑needed basis, attend site visits in the field related to construction monitoring, community engagement, or agency reviews
- Oversee reporting to agencies such as CDFW, CEC, BLM, USFWS, State and Regional Water Boards, local air districts, DTSC, CARB, TCEQ, and transportation departments
- Attend agency meetings, as needed, to disseminate post‑construction survey results and mitigation obligations
- Represent the company at industry association discussions, and communicate key take‑aways for internal teams
- Manage and keep up to date project construction and operational compliance schedules and budgets
- Develop internal presentation, communication, and approval materials for executive management and other internal stakeholders
