The role, at a glance:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cost Accountant to join the finance team at Biamp, a leading audio-visual technology manufacturer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, with a proven ability to analyze and optimize financial data. This role is critical to maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of our cost accounting processes, ensuring precise inventory management, cost control, and financial reporting.

As a Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our firm by ensuring accurate costing, financial analysis, and inventory management. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements and support decision-making related to cost management and profitability.

How you’ll contribute:

Act as the subject matter expert for costing system processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy in the ERP system

Calculate and maintain/update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overheads

Perform periodic cost audits to ensure that cost structures are accurate and address discrepancies

Monitor and analyze inventory levels and valuation, ensuring accurate costing and timely adjustments

Reconcile inventory balances to general ledger, investigate discrepancies and conduct physical inventory counts when needed

Analyze and report on variances between standard and actual costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

Cost analysis and reporting:

Prepare and analyze and explain monthly cost changes, highlighting variances and investigating corrective actions

Collaborate with production, purchasing, and logistics teams to understand and report on key cost drivers

Assist in month end close, related to cost of goods sold, inventory, and manufacturing overhead

Provide recurring reporting on Finished Good Margins and Variable Manufacturing costs and other key performance indicators

Work with cross-functional teams to calculate and track costs for New Product Introductions Monitor product profitability and manufacturing costs, recommending actions to improve cost efficiency and margin performance

Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions

Process improvement and internal controls:

Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost accounting processes, data collection, and reporting accuracy and efficiency

Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and company policies

Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls

Contribute to the development and maintenance of best practices for cost accounting, reporting, and internal controls

Assist with other finance and accounting tasks as needed

A successful candidate should have:

Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, manufacturing cost drivers, and COGS in a production setting

Proficiency in inventory management and cost allocation methods

Hands-on experience with Enterprise ERP systems (e.g., Infor LN or similar)
Demonstrated Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and present data efficiently

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, variances, and actionable insights

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Work environment:

This is an onsite position based in Beaverton, OR.Minimal travel (less than 10%)
