Data Center Technician – Job Description
Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail‑oriented Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and security of servers, network equipment, and facility systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, rack, and configure servers, network devices, and cabling infrastructure.
- Perform routine maintenance, hardware upgrades, and system repairs.
- Monitor data center systems, including power, cooling, and network performance.
- Troubleshoot hardware, network, and connectivity issues to minimize downtime.
- Replace faulty components (e.g., drives, memory, power supplies).
- Execute cable management, labeling, and documentation standards.
- Support asset lifecycle management (receiving, deployment, decommissioning).
- Maintain accurate logs, tickets, and technical documentation.
- High school diploma or GED;
Associate degree in IT or related field preferred. - Experience with server hardware, networking components, and data center environments.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking and operating systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and network issues in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Server+.
- Experience with fiber optics, structured cabling, or low‑voltage systems.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote hands support.
- Knowledge of data center best practices (power, cooling, redundancy).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Hands‑on role within a data center environment.
- Requires physical activity (lifting equipment, working in racks, cable runs).
- May involve shift work and on‑call support to ensure 24/7 operations.
This is a Contract position based out of Beaverton, OR.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $30.00‑$35.00/hr.
