Buyer
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for the creation and management of purchase orders to achieve revenue and inventory objectives. You will proactively maintain all open purchase orders, ensuring due dates, quantities, and costs are accurately tracked. Additionally, you will liaise with suppliers to resolve issues with past due orders and work closely with the manufacturing team to meet material requirements.
Responsibilities- Create and manage purchase orders to meet revenue and inventory goals.
- Proactively maintain open purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in due dates, quantities, and costs.
- Follow up with suppliers on past due purchase orders or when acknowledgments are delayed.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure material availability.
- Reschedule unnecessary purchase orders to prevent excess inventory.
- Coordinate with Supplier Quality Engineering and Process Engineering to address supplier quality issues.
- Request RMA numbers from suppliers and process returns in Oracle, including packaging.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in managing purchase orders and inventory.
- Strong negotiation skills and understanding of lean manufacturing.
- Experience with ERP systems, such as Oracle.
- 5 years in supply chain management with 1-2 years in purchasing.
- 1-2 years of manufacturing or operations experience in a high-mix, low-volume plant.
- Understanding of Kanban, Min/Max, Buy to Order, Consignment, Vendor Managed Inventory, Blankets, MRP, and Last Time Buy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications like Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage tasks autonomously.
- Calm under pressure and able to articulate problems and solutions clearly.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to escalate issues quickly if necessary.
The role requires working on-site Monday through Friday during standard business hours. The work environment is team-oriented with significant collaboration with planning, scheduling, engineering, and production teams. The atmosphere is supportive and inviting, encouraging self-starters who are proactive with questions and process improvements.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beaverton, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.27/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
