About the Role: Our client is seeking a Materials Development 2 professional to support the Apparel Materials Development team. This is a technical materials development role focused on seasonal sportswear and lifestyle apparel. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and technical developers to develop and commercialize innovative apparel materials.
Note: This is NOT a design role. The primary focus is on the technical execution and development of apparel materials from concept through production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the technical development of apparel materials from concept to production.
- Interpret design briefs and translate them into commercially viable material solutions.
- Coordinate material testing, validation, and production readiness.
- Work with yarns, knits, woven fabrics, dyeing, printing, washing, and finishing processes.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product Creation teams, including Designers, Product Managers, and Technical Developers.
- Maintain accurate material information and development milestones within internal systems.
- Support seasonal material development timelines and ensure on-time delivery.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Apparel Materials Development.
- Strong understanding of the technical side of material development.
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Yarn construction
- Knitting
- Weaving
- Dyeing
- Printing
- Fabric finishing techniques
- Experience managing material testing, validation, and production setup.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Previous experience with a Fortune 500 retail or apparel brand.
- Experience working with Product Creation teams.
- Previous our client or similar industry experience is highly preferred.
