Human Research Coordinator
Location:
Beaverton, OR (Hybrid Onsite at PHK, Fridays WFH)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract (52 Weeks)
About the Team: The Advanced Innovation Collective within the our client Sport Research Lab (NSRL) is seeking a highly specialized Human Research Coordinator to support the Athlete Protection Program (APP). This is a unique opportunity to work alongside innovative researchers and scientific teams focused on ethical innovation, athlete protection, and human research compliance.
You will join the Research Operations team and report directly to the Director of the NSRL Athlete Protection Program, collaborating across multiple scientific disciplines within NSRL.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Institutional Review Board (IRB) administrative processes and research compliance activities
- Conduct pre-reviews of research applications related to ethical and regulatory requirements
- Serve as the first point of contact for investigator questions and compliance concerns
- Provide consultation and education regarding human subject s research compliance
- Maintain and strengthen ethical innovation and research protection programs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with scientific and technical teams across NSRL
- Evaluate research risks and recommend athlete protection strategies
- Build trusted partnerships across teams and departments
- Lead focused fact-finding initiatives and provide actionable recommendations
- Conduct twice-yearly training sessions and maintain records management processes
- Support policy-driven decision making in complex or non-standard situations
- Contribute innovative ideas and solutions related to ethics, compliance, and research operations
- Bachelor s degree in Scientific, Biomedical, Health, Regulatory, or related field with 6+ years of direct experience OR master s degree with 4+ years of direct experience
- 5 7 years of experience in Human Research Protection Programs or IRB environments
- Strong expertise in research ethics and federal regulations involving human subjects research, including HHS and FDA guidelines
- Experience working with IRBs and/or Human Research Protection Programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management abilities
- Comfortable interacting with scientific researchers and technical experts
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity independently
- Strong analytical and risk-based thinking skills
- Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification
- Experience supporting sport science research including biomechanics, physiology, perception, or behavior research
- Experience with Airtable, Excel, or research database management systems
- Prior experience within innovation-focused or research-intensive environments
- Human Research Protection Programs / IRB Administration
- Research Ethics & Human Subjects Regulatory Compliance (HHS/FDA)
- Stakeholder Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Previous our client experience is not required
- Open to non-local candidates
