Convenience Store Assistant Manager
Cain Petroleum is hiring a Convenience Store Assistant Manager. This position oversees and manages daily operations of a retail convenience store.
Minimum age: 18 years.
Minimum experience:
at least 2 years as an assistant manager or supervisor, preferably with retail customer service background.
Weekends required.
Responsibilities- Perform all opening duties, collect all reports, and complete daily paperwork.
- Input and scan all daily paperwork into the back‑office system.
- Assist the store manager with shift coverage.
- Greets customers, answers questions, and provides prompt, courteous service.
- Handle all payment transactions, including cash, dispensing change, and running credit card payments while maintaining an accurate cash drawer.
- Record opening and closing coin, lottery tickets, and print all shift reports.
- Activate pumps with credit cards and fill customer fuel tanks with the correct grade and amount, providing receipts of sale.
- Perform all closing duties, including posting Veeder root, setting the alarm, and securing the building.
- Prepare hot food while maintaining all food‑safety standards.
- Dispense lottery tickets and verify the age of customers purchasing alcohol, cigarettes, or lottery tickets.
- Maintain and restock supplies and store inventory.
- Complete assigned cleaning responsibilities.
- Report any suspicious activity to the direct supervisor and authorities, if needed.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Respectfully take direction from the supervisor or district coordinator.
- Maintain Chevron Customer First Standards.
- Close the store when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
QualificationsAbility to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the safety or health of employee or others.
- One year of related experience and/or training in management, assistant management, or supervisory role.
- No certificates, licenses, or registrations required.
- Minimal local travel with no overnight stays.
- Language skills: ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry.
- Computer skills: advanced basic computer job skills—including logging on to systems, emailing, composing documents, entering database information, creating presentations, downloading forms, and preserving/backup data.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
The position requires frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 10 pounds, regular lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds, standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers to type or dial, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, or extreme cold (non-weather).
