Location: Oregon Department of Transportation, Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) Field Services Group / Sunset Region Beaverton

Position Type: Employee Position

Responsibilities
  • Assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles, and issuing permits and license plates.
  • Administer knowledge, skill, and vision tests to potential drivers.
  • Ensure correct fees are collected.
  • Provide information about regulations and policies and administer behind‑the‑wheel drive tests.
  • Prepare photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards.
  • Administer, correct, and explain driver license tests.
  • Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
  • Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
  • Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone.
  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
  • Three months experience collecting money and making change.
  • Completion of an associate’s degree substitutes for one year of public contact experience.
  • Fluency in speaking and reading Arabic.
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
Special Qualifications
  • Valid U.S. driver license and an acceptable driving record are required; driving is an essential function of this position.
  • Employer will conduct pre‑employment driving record checks.
  • License does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
