Site Chemist / Chemistry Graduate – Hazardous Waste

Full time 8am – 5pm, Mon‑Fri

£28K to £32K

Work primarily on‑site in the yard (~75% of the time) unloading and identifying hazardous waste loads collected from customers. Use bucket chemistry, basic lab work and forklift operations to ensure correct identification and safe preparation for bulk storage or external processing.

• Unload HGV loads of hazardous waste materials, using forklifts where required.
• Identify waste via bucket chemistry and basic laboratory tests.
• Prepare and bulk similar wastes for safe storage based on their chemical properties.
• Manage bulked loads that leave the site for processing.
• Spend approximately 75% of the role on‑site and 15% in the lab.

• Minimum: HNC Chemistry, ideally a degree. Degrees with Chemistry directly in the title (e.g., Biochemistry) or containing at least four modules with “Chemistry” in the title are acceptable if module lists are provided.
• UK driving licence.
• Forklift operation experience is a plus (training provided).
• Knowledge of hazardous waste or environmental regulations preferred.
• Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational environment.

• Experience in the hazardous waste industry as a Reception Chemist, Site Chemist, Technical Assessor, Chempac/Hazpak Chemist, Mobile Chemist, or similar roles.

Graduates are welcomed; a passion for an outdoors, manual work‑oriented role is encouraged.
