Responsibilities
Under general supervision, performs entry-level accounting support duties. The incumbent is responsible for performing routine posting and adjusting to the general ledger, processing claims and invoices, and reviewing transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
The Accounting Tech 2 is the trustee clerk. Responsibilities include managing all inmate monies, preparing deposits daily, preparing checks for inmate money releases, transfers, etc., entering all incoming money orders, and working with the rapid release and debit card system. Sends daily receipts to units, keeps all files orderly and organized for auditing purposes, balances accounts daily, and provides weekly and monthly reports to units.
Maintains spreadsheets to confirm that all balances are correct and deducted accurately to include court orders, clerk orders, restitution, child support, etc. Keeps supervisors updated of any usual events or errors. This position will also help with purchasing and accounts payable as needed.
Shift: One 12-hour shift per week in security.
QualificationsTraining: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid bookkeeping, accounting or related experience.
Substitution: Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from an regionally accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of three semester hours equals six months experience; OR Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience through an established formula.
Pay- In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility.
- Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.
- If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.
Minimum Special Hiring Rate: $35,273.
PG: 8 $ 30,273 - $51,585.
