Certified Public Accountant

We are looking for an experienced CPA, Senior Accountant, and Auditor with public accounting experience to join our CPA firm in Beckley, WV.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience working in a public accounting firm and hands-on experience performing audit engagements, preparing financial statements, and preparing individual and business tax returns.

We are especially interested in a CPA or CPA candidate who is comfortable performing audit work from planning through completion and who has experience using professional tax and audit software.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who can work independently, communicate directly with clients, manage multiple engagements, and take responsibility for completing assigned audit, accounting, and tax work.

• Perform audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, testing, documentation, and completion
• Prepare audit work papers and financial statements
• Perform Reviews and Compilations
• Prepare individual and business tax returns
• Review general ledgers and client accounting records
• Prepare adjusting and closing journal entries
• Prepare account reconciliations
• Identify accounting, audit, and tax issues and work toward resolving them
• Research tax, accounting, and auditing questions
• Communicate directly with clients regarding audit, accounting, tax, and financial matters
• Maintain complete and organized electronic work papers
• Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines
• Assist other members of the firm during tax season and throughout the year

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Master's preferred
• 4+ years of public accounting experience
• Hands-on experience performing financial statement audits for a CPA/public accounting firm
• Experience with audit planning, fieldwork, testing, work papers, and completion of audit engagements
• Experience preparing individual and business tax returns
• Experience preparing financial statements
• Experience with Reviews and Compilations
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and auditing standards
• Ability to work independently and manage engagements and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients

• CPA license strongly preferred
• Experience with CCH Engagement, or similar
• Experience with CCH Pro System fx Tax, or similar
• Experience with Accounting CS, or similar
• Experience with Quickbooks Online, or similar
• Experience preparing individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and other business tax returns
• Experience managing multiple audit, accounting, and tax engagements in a public accounting environment
• Please note: This is an experienced public accounting position. General accounting experience, nonprofit accounting experience, internal auditing experience, or an accounting degree alone without prior public accounting experience will not meet the experience requirements for this position.
