EMPLOYMENT TERM:  School Year, Contract 200 Days

QUALIFICATIONS: Fully certified as a school psychologist in West Virginia; WV Professional Student Support School Psychologist Certificate Pre-K-Adult

RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA (Based on State Board Policy 5310)
  • Implements programs of study.
  • Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Utilizes instructional management systems models which increase student learning.
  • Monitors student progress towards mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
  • Communicates effectively within the educational community, and with parents on a regular basis.
  • Meets professional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates competency in the knowledge and implementation of technology standards.
  • Developmental Guidance
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
  • Provide technical assistance to Student Assistance Teams (SAT)
  • Provide technical assistance to school staff regarding the Multi-Tier System of Supports and SPL process and eligibility determination
  • Conduct psycho-educational assessments, complete all required reports, and meet confidentiality requirements in maintaining case reports
  • Consult with parents on the evaluation and eligibility process for special education
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Manifestation Determinations, Positive Behavior Supports and Applied Behavioral Analysis
  • Provide a variety of behavioral and instructional strategies to effectively teach students of varying ability levels
  • Provide individual and group therapy
  • Participate in eligibility committee meetings, re-evaluation planning, and other meetings relating to the psychological needs of students
  • Serve on committees involved with intelligence and/or psychological testing
  • Assist in the development of programs for teachers and administrators relating to child development, behavioral techniques, and the state standards for the identification of exceptional children
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of special programs for students and staff and make recommendations for improvement, including the annual special education self-assessment process
  • Serve as a liaison between schools and consulting psychologists, psychiatrists, and other providers of therapeutic services
  • Interpret school psychological services to stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of the developments in the field by participating in state and national conferences and workshops, as appropriate and approved
  • Participate in community/agency committee meetings as assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the superintendent or immediate supervisor may assign
  • Coordinate services for developmental guidance, character education, and social work.
  • Lead Professional Learning Communities for Counselors, Social Workers and Community School initiatives.
  • Seek additional grant opportunities to expand services.
  • Coordinate/provide professional development opportunities for staff, administration, parents and community.
  • Assist with implementation of Restorative practices, Love and Logic, disability awareness, Minds in Motion, trauma-informed schools, Journey of Hope, Sources of Strength and other programs or practices as needed.
  • Lead Trauma-Informed Schools initiatives and assist writing a County-wide comprehensive plan of action.
  • Conduct surveys to determine needs.
  • Provide support for bullying prevention, tobacco/alcohol cessation, addiction, drug usage, etc.
  • Serve as Lead and Coordinator of Student Services and IDEA Programming

SALARY: Based on Calhoun County Teachers and Supplemental Salary Schedule commensurate with degree level and experience. Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
