- WV Professional Teaching Certificate or eligible for a Career and Technical Education Permit in General Building Construction.
- Must verify 8,000 clock hours of satisfactory and continuous work experience in building construction OR a bachelor's degree in building construction plus 6,000 clock hours of work experience.
- Skilled in computers and machine operations.
- Must pass basic skills test, content specialization test, and NOCTI test.
- Must complete certification requirements through the West Virginia Department of Education.
- NCCER Certified preferred.
- Knowledge of IEPs and implementing accommodations preferred.
- Demonstrated success in implementing instructional standards.
- Must pass a background check.
- Additional screening for applicants not currently employed (no recent dismissals, poor evaluations, etc.).
Principal, Assistant Principal, and Administrative Director
Job GoalInstruct students in carpentry/building construction using methods consistent with the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) Programs of Study and the South Branch Career and Technical Center (or equivalent local) Administrative Council guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Implement the adopted Programs of Study for Carpentry / Building Construction.
- Create a safe, positive classroom/shop climate conducive to learning.
- Plan and deliver instruction using a variety of strategies, including hands‑on projects, safety training, blueprint reading, tool use, and construction techniques.
- Monitor and document student progress toward mastery of skills and objectives.
- Enforce strict safety protocols (safety exams, PPE, etc.).
- Work with an industry advisory committee (minimum 2 meetings per year).
- Serve as SkillsUSA advisor and chaperone for local, state, and national events.
- Utilize the Simulated Workplace to complete minor construction projects for the school system.
- Integrate technology and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
200 days per year, salary according to the established WV/Lincoln County pay schedule.
EvaluationPerformance evaluated per WVDE Policy 5300.
