Certification

Holds or qualifies for a West Virginia Professional or Temporary Teaching Certificate endorsed for English as a Second Language and Elementary Education K-12. A Master’s Degree in ELS preferred. Experience working with students with limited English proficiency (ELL) preferred.

Length of Employment

Summer Professional – Extended School Year. Must complete summer preparations detailed below.

Summer Preparation Schedule
  • Dates: 07/21/2026-07/30/2026 (4 days a week, Monday-Thursday)
  • Closeout Day: 07/31/2026 (as needed)
  • Daily

    Schedule:

    7:45 am – 3:15 pm
  • Must be available to work the full summer contract; no exceptions for vacations or attending summer staff development.
Salary

2026-27 salary schedule (hourly rate) – Professional Daily Salary.

Job Description

The ESL Teacher is assigned to deliver developmentally appropriate instruction to ESL students to help them meet academic standards and retain skills during the summer break, increase their performance on assessment and in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver developmentally appropriate instruction to ESL students.
  • Help students meet academic standards and retain skills during summer break.
  • Increase student performance on assessments and in the classroom.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate instruction.
  • Collaborate with peers.
Qualifications
  • West Virginia Professional or Temporary Teaching Certificate endorsed for English as a Second Language.
  • Experience working with students with limited English proficiency (ELL) preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in ELS preferred.
  • Availability for full summer contract; no vacations.
