To assist CTE teachers in the development and use of plans that incorporate English/Language Arts (ELA) content and skills specific to their CTE programs. The position will require team teaching, cooperative planning, and development of project-based learning modules that improve ELA for students. Academic lessons will parallel the work occurring in the CTE pathway and are expected to be relevant to other CTE exercises.

Additionally, the academic teacher will provide the necessary instruction to cover all WVDE ELA Content Standards and validate student mastery before awarding Embedded Credit. Preference will be given for experience working and familiarity with CTE programs and pathways.

REGULAR DUTIES

1. Provide appropriate lessons that support acquisition and use of ELA concepts/skills through project based learning modules associated with the CTE pathway.

2. Provide training and support while working with CTE teachers to develop appropriate, relevant lesson plans.

3. Provide regular updates to the building administrator on program progress and make recommendations and changes that lead to increased learning opportunities for students.

4. Electronically send and receive assignments from CTE teachers and students.

5. Assist CTE teachers in monitoring and benchmarking student progress.

6. Assist with standardized testing.

7. Responsible for planning and implementing team teaching strategies in CTE programs.

8. Serve on school and county committees as assigned.

9. Maintain professional work habits.

10. Participate in continuous professional development to upgrade skills.

11. Assist with remediation programs.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL OR OCCASIONAL DUTIES

2. Chaperone students who may be competing or otherwise representing the school.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING

Classes, seminars, workshops, and other training or instruction that permits one to perform the duties listed and that contribute to continued professional growth will be required. It is also expected that the ELA teacher serving in this position will attend all LDC/MDC training and incorporate these strategies in the CTE classroom.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (STATE CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)

1. West Virginia Professional Comprehensive Certification in English/Language Arts 9-adult.

2. Experience in effective integration of technology to transmit and receive student assignments

3. Knowledge in correlating CTE curriculum and standards with WVDE ELA Content Standards.
