Financial Analyst
This position assists in the collection, compilation, and interpretation of data utilized in all aspects of the preparation of the Department of Health, Department of Human Services, Health Facilities, and the Office of Shared Administration program narratives, capital expenditures, supplemental/improvement funding, division account summaries and expenditure schedules, maintaining compliance with all rules and regulations.
This position also performs duties related to position control and budget management, enters budget revenue and expenditure estimates into the staff financial information system, assists in the preparation of/or reviews departmental modification to approved expenditures schedules and/or appropriation requests in compliance with all applicable guidelines.
The Budget Analyst 1 reviews and monitors agency budget figures, expenditure schedules and personnel services using databases to verify information and updates systems as changes are processed, and then notifies departmental staff of issues. They assist in annual revision and distribution on budget forms and instruction booklets and answers questions regarding line-item definitions and interpretations as well as uses databases to monitor and compile financial data, prepare various listings and reports and perform financial analyses.
This position will also perform mathematical computations and extensive proofreading in reviewing budget documents and assist with special projects involving budget planning, reporting, preparation and monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications Training:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration, accounting, statistics, economics, finance, public policy analysis or related area.
OR
Substitution:Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in budget preparation, financial allocation, or financial analysis may substitute for the required training at the rate of one (1) year experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of required training.
Other InformationTechnical experience in nongovernmental budget preparation, monitoring, or review may be substituted for the training on a year-for-year basis
