Position: Lottery Video Technical Support Specialist 1

Note: This position is not in the classified service and is not covered by the West Virginia Division of Personnel merit system.

Location and Shift: Lottery Headquarters during day shift.

Responsibilities: Under general supervision, provide technical support over the telephone to end users—including racetrack personnel, limited video lottery retailers, operators, audit and security staff—on video lottery machine hardware and software problems. Perform first‑level problem determination and resolve issues promptly. Direct calls to appropriate technical staff when first level fails. Answer questions regarding video lottery installations, setups, error messages, status, and downtime.

Monitor the video lottery central gaming system. Complete nightly processing on the Lottery’s internal control system (ICS) for the Lottery on‑line drawing. Travel required for operation at the backup data center. Good communication skills required.

Background & Security: Applicants are subject to an extensive background investigation by the WV Lottery Security Division. No person shall be appointed, employed, or continue to serve in any position or employment with the commission who has been convicted of any violation of the lottery law or of any felony or any crime related to theft or gambling. The commission shall remove or discharge any person so convicted.

Training
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience
  • Two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in information technology and/or systems operations.
Substitution
  • Computer‑science coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at a rate of twelve (12) semester hours for every one (1) year of experience.
Special Requirements
  • Background and credit investigation and security clearance required for employment.
Qualifications
  • Preference for knowledge of current Windows operating systems and Linux.
  • Good communication skills.
