Job Responsibilities:
- Considers age-related factors in the care, treatment, assessment and education of patients.
Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. - Performs direct patient care as ordered by the physicians, i.e., injections, suture removal, dressing changes and other duties as required.
- Communicates to the patient and/or patient's family information with regards to specific health care needs, i.e., signs and symptoms,reaction to medication therapy and precautions, wound care, medication administration and others as needed.
- Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care; including minor surgical procedures.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of documentation on patient medical records on a timely basis.
Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. - Schedules patients for various x-rays, scans, surgical procedures and hospital admissions appropriately.
- Assists in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Prepares rooms for exams as specified by each individual physician.
- Performs ancillary patient care duties through calling prescriptions to pharmacies and assisting the physicians with return calls to patients.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, conforming to OSHA regulations and other agencies.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs to maintain state licensure.
- Codes office visits i.e., examination, office surgery for reimbursement using
CPT-ICD-10 codes which complement each other. - Ensures and seeks to improve nursing standards and nursing care practices to meet new office practice concepts and managerial methods.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. Current RN license required.
Experience: Minimum one year experience in medical/surgical nursing or related clinical experience.
