Description

American Traveler is hiring an Infusion RN for an Oncology position requiring 2+ years of RN experience, chemotherapy administration skills, and a WV or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in an infusion center providing inpatient and outpatient oncology care
  • Daily caseload of approximately 70 patients with a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • No on-call responsibilities required
  • No floating required within facility or to sister facilities
Requirements
  • Active WV or compact RN license required, pending license accepted for consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BLS certification required through AHA
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy and infusions, including accessing and managing ports, central line care, and PICC line care
  • Experienced in chemotherapy administration, including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral administration
  • Skilled in body fluid handling and management/disposal of cytotoxic spills post-chemotherapy
  • Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
  • Experience with biotherapy administration (Interferons and Interleukins) preferred
  • Infusion center and inpatient/outpatient oncology experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required
  • Must provide proof of flu vaccination or documented medical exemption from an allergist or physician
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care including external beam therapy, IMRT, and prophylactic treatments alongside infusion duties
  • Utilize CBCT/kV/mV imaging and radiation safety protocols
  • Deliver patient and family education and psychosocial support
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Orientation held every other Thursday
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility, with 75-99 miles considered case-by-case at the same rate
  • Former permanent employees must wait 3 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
  • Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, and affiliated hospitals) are not eligible for this travel contract
  • No prior license suspensions allowed; probationary actions considered case-by-case
