Security Officer Position Summary

Protects employees, patients and visitors of RGH; protects hospital supplies and equipment; enforces security policies and procedures, observes suspicious persons and disorderly gatherings, etc.; assists in events such as injury, sickness, riot, fire or similar; provides safety and security of all persons and property; enforces federal, state and local laws as well as facility policies; maintains professional competency; demonstrates understanding of proper guidelines for use of force.

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision; must work in stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Valid West Virginia driver’s license.
• Work experience in healthcare security and/or safety field preferred.

• Prolonged periods of walking during a shift.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
• Ability to traverse various areas of the facility to conduct inspections and plan security procedures.
