Job Overview
Location:
Beckley South Complex, Beckley, WV.
Hourly wage: $17.48 - $25.35 per hour, eligible for overtime.
Responsibilities- Answer directly to the Foreman of the Carpenter Shop.
- Perform at a proficiency level in the craft of carpentry.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of skills, methods, materials, and equipment.
- Lead, guide, and train apprentice craftsmen.
- Plan, layout, and supervise the work of skilled and unskilled tradesmen.
- Perform tasks as a craftsman carpenter in special areas: framing, forming, concrete, masonry & tile, cabinet & finishing.
Cabinet and Finishing: knowledge of stain, painting, putty, caulking, belt sanding, installing trim, doors, cabinet hardware, weather stripping, finishes, trim work, laminate work, and building office furniture.
Framing: frame, roof, floor, and wall systems; knowledge of lumber dimensions, nailing, insulation, sawing, shingle and siding installation, sheeting; lay out all frame structures.
Forming: concrete forming jobs such as footers, slabs, curbs; forms for barrier walls, retainer walls, parapet walls, holding tanks, culverts, spill ways.
Concrete: pouring jobs, parging, placement, ranking, hand screed, sealing; operate power screed, electric vibrator; install reinforcement steel, finish concrete.
Masonry & Tile: mix mortar, grouts; cut blocks, bricks, tiles; lay block/brick; hang and finish; tape, base coat; apply texture; install tile and brick.
Skills and Abilities- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to accept supervision.
- Ability to properly operate and maintain Parkway equipment.
- Ability to work well with co‑workers.
- Exhibit leadership abilities.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to interpret BOCA regulations.
- Basic knowledge of sectional equipment operations.
- Basic knowledge of all areas of the craft while being first class in one or more areas.
- Five or more years of advanced skills in the carpentry trade.
- Ability to organize and direct a large crew of skilled and unskilled laborers.
- Skill in handling and preparing reports.
- Ability to utilize all available man‑hours for responsible duties.
- Ability to withstand adverse weather conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Class B CDL.
- Five years of experience in all fields of work in this section.
