Welding Technician-WV Parkways Authority-Raleigh

Location and Compensation

Location:

Beckley, WV.
Hourly Wage: $17.48 – $25.35 per hour, plus overtime.

The employee will answer directly to the Fleet Manager and must possess proficiency in the field of welding. Responsibilities include leading, guiding, and training Apprentice Technicians; planning, layout, and supervising the work of skilled and unskilled workers.

• Knowledge of welding, operation of Parkways radio, and forms for operations daily report, work & purchase orders.
• Light torches and set gauges.
• Welding and brazing of mild steel.
• Use of diesel-powered welder, band saw, grinder, and electrical welders.
• Use of boom of welding truck, track torch, plasma torch, and aluminum/MIG welder.
• Hydraulic system: change hydraulic hoses, replace pumps, spinner wheel, auger, snow blades, caster wheels/assemblies, and plow jack.
• Snow and ice duties: replace hydraulic hoses, pumps, spinner wheel, auger, snow blades, caster wheels/assemblies, and plow jack.
• Miscellaneous: flagging and various duties for maintenance and upkeep of small equipment such as mowers, lawn mowers, and weed eaters.
• Any other duties as assigned.

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Must have Call B CDL's.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have completed an apprenticeship and at least 3 years of experience in the welding field.
• Must be certified by the WV Dept. of Education of Vocational Technical Adult Education for having successfully completed the WV Welding Certification Test.
