We're looking for a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to join a well-established automation team delivering custom control systems and retrofit projects across industrial manufacturing environments in the Cleveland area.
This is a hands-on, project-driven role where you'll lead a team and take ownership from design through commissioning, working closely with customers and supporting projects on-site.
The Role- Full lifecycle ownership - design, programming, install, and startup
- Focus on retrofits, upgrades, and custom automation projects
- Highly hands-on role with strong involvement in commissioning and troubleshooting
- Regular client interaction and on-site project execution
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- 7-10 years of hands-on controls/automation experience
- Strong PLC programming experience (Rockwell, Siemens, or Modicon)
- Experience with VFDs, servo systems, and drive configuration (AB, Siemens, ABB, Parker)
- Understanding of motors, torque, speed, and mechanical fundamentals
- Experience with AutoCAD / electrical schematics and panel design
- Proven ability to work across full project lifecycle (design → commissioning)
- Design and develop control systems for industrial applications
- Program and commission PLC-based automation systems
- Configure and start up VFDs, servo drives, and motor control systems
- Support electrical design, schematics, and panel layouts
- Lead and manage projects from concept through installation and startup
- Work closely with customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Oversee on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Prepare project documentation, BOMs, and technical reports
- Support customer training and ensure successful project delivery
