SUMMARY
DESCRIPTION:
- Helps students to learn subject matter and skills which will lead toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the students in activities sponsored by the school.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Support- As Teacher of Record, write and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure that the IEP meets the unique needs of the student.
- As Teacher of Record, ensure all components of the IEP are accurate and are implemented as written.
- Progress monitor IEP goals and make any adjustments to the IEP and instruction, as necessary.
- Conduct Annual Case Conferences for students or upon request from parents or school staff.
- Provide necessary information to all teachers regarding students’ IEPs, and engage in continual communication with all school personnel to ensure student success, LRE, and FAPE.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of progress reports, open communication via email, conferences, phone calls, etc.
- Use positive reinforcement.
- Provide engaging and relevant activities that will help learners meet their objectives.
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Provide evidence of professional growth.
- Write clear and usable plans that indicate a direction for instruction and implementation of courses of study.
- Use data to inform instruction and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Complete bi-annual caseload count requirements.
- Participate in professional learning communities and professional development.
- Maintain records as required by NLCS policy and state guidelines; maintain professional ethics.
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
- Work collaboratively with all staff to ensure students are receiving FAPE.
- Administer the classroom and its program of organization and management.
- Demonstrate appropriate classroom management skills that foster student engagement and learning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter.
- Show respect and consideration for students, staff, parents, and so forth.
- Keep an active record of texts, supplies, and equipment used in the classroom.
- Foster desirable school-community relationships.
- Refer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to the principal and/or guidance counselor/SEC Advisor.
- Accept a share of responsibility for RtI and other committees and co-curricular activities.
- Attend NLCS and faculty meetings
- Conduct other duties related to the teacher’s duties as assigned by the principal or local superintendent.
- Licensure:
Mild Interventions Rules 2002, REPA/REPA 3 or equivalent for Rules 46-47
