Job DescriptionFastech Precision is seeking an experienced Lead Machinist/CNC Operator to join our dynamic machine shop team. If you thrive in a hands-on environment and have experience with 3D modeling, CAD/CAM programming, and operating a wide range of CNC machinery, we want to hear from you! This role involves performing essential daily tasks to support our precision manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Haas CNC machinery, including but not limited to mills, press brakes, waterjets, lathes, shears, drills, and taps
- Read technical drawings and blueprints, understand GD&T and accurately measure parts using precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Plan current and upcoming jobs to support an efficient and well-planned production schedule
- Lead 3D modeling, CAD/CAM programming, and tool path generation using Solid Works and Fusion 360
- Mentor junior machinists on best practices and troubleshoot design-to-manufacturing workflows as needed
- Design and create workpiece fixtures as necessary to support production
- Perform cutting, assembly, engraving, and other machine shop duties
- Drive forklifts and operate heavy machinery/equipment as needed
- Utilize general shop tools for tasks such as cutting, bending, forming, drilling, assembling, coating, painting, and additional related activities
- Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols in all operations
- Assist with general shop maintenance and other duties as assigned to support efficient workflow
- Proven experience as a machinist in a shop environment
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Solid Works required
- General familiarity with CAD/CAM concepts
- Ability to train/mentor others as needed
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 or other Quality Management Systems
- Familiarity with First-Article Inspection or similar initial inspection procedures
- Proficiency with CNC programming and operation
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and assembly processes
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, including forklifts
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is a plus
- Formal education, technical training or certification(s) in machining is a plus.
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00 per hour. The expected weekly commitment is 40 hours per week, with opportunity for overtime.
