American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Requirements- Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
- TNCC certification preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Experience with IV therapy including central line care, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
- Experience administering continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
- Experience with CVA and neurological/psychiatric patient care
- Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
- Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Work in a 15-bed emergency department at a critical access hospital
- General ED setting treating combined adult and pediatric patients
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (18:00-06:30)
- Block scheduling is not available for this unit
- 100% floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population
- Manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to emergency situations
- Perform triage and maintain isolation precautions/PPE protocols
- Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
