Our confidential client is a growing, independent non-profit organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting functions. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity with significant responsibility across accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, and regulatory compliance. The organization is financially strong, has a large and growing employee base, and is embarking on a significant expansion over the next several years.
Responsibilities- Lead all general accounting and financial reporting functions.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
- Prepare and oversee Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and related regulatory requirements.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Oversee cash management, treasury, procurement, and financial controls.
- Evaluate and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Partner with the CFO and leadership team to provide financial analysis and insights for decision-making.
- Manage and maintain compliance calendars and required financial filings.
- Provide leadership and support across AP, AR, payroll, and other accounting functions as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or a related regulated environment.
- Medicare/Medicaid experience, including cost reporting and regulatory reporting, is required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing external audits and working with outside accounting firms.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
- CPA is preferred but not required.
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation: $150,000 - $165,000
