JOB DESCRIPTION
Great opportunity for someone who loves being on the water meeting boaters. We are looking for a Jolly Captain with an exceptionally friendly demeanor who loves working with the public on the water and wants to showcase New Bedford and Fairhaven. We attract boaters and visitors from all across the country. We transport people to local attractions, restaurants, moorings, and marinas in the Port.

FUNCTION

• Responsible for the safe operation of a USCG inspected 9-passenger launch throughout New Bedford Harbor and Fairhaven
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Assisting boaters
• Maintaining a tour guide like environment with guests and passengers

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• The safe operation of launch
• Monitor a VHF radio and cell phone
• Provide highest level of customer service and information
• Assist transient boaters with mooring assignments
• Assist dock attendants at Pope’s Island Marina when not operating launch
• Keep boats clean at all times
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager
• Must wear uniforms as provided.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Skilled boater (willing to train)
• Pass a background check and a drug test
• Professional appearance, strong communication skills and display strong work ethic
• Display acceptable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to multi-task and operate a VHF radio and cell phone
• Ability to work constructively and positively with fellow employees
