Invites Applications for the Position of Van Monitor (Preschool)
Responsibilities- Assume responsibilities for the safety, supervision, monitoring, daily pickup and delivery of children in need of special education from their designated pickup to their school and their safe return from school to their pickup.
- Be aware and respond to any need or problem which a child in need of special education may have that could cause difficulties during transportation (behavioral concerns, seizures, or any disability).
- Cross children safely when necessary.
- Ensure children are seated safely and remain seated and buckled when riding the bus.
- Report behavior problems and maintain appropriate behavior of children riding the bus.
- Ensure all children are accounted for during pickup and deliveries to and from school.
- Be trained to take necessary emergency measures.
- Assure equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of protected characteristics.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Assist the driver in the pre‑trip safety inspection, as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Physically capable of performing duties (lifting, carrying of children, ambulatory and prosthetic devices).
- Awareness and sensitivity for children with special needs.
- Ability to work closely and cooperatively with driver(s) to ensure a safe and comfortable ride for students.
- Working knowledge of effective techniques of discipline and behavior reinforcement.
- Knowledge and ability to provide services for children with special needs; keep them safe and as comfortable as possible in transportation.
- Successful completion of CORI and National background check.
This is a contracted, no‑benefits position.
