The OpportunityWe’re looking for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a Facilities Engineering team supporting a GMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation.
This is a hands‑on individual contributor role for someone who understands that HVAC in a GMP environment is much more than keeping a building comfortable. You’ll have ownership across HVAC, AHUs, humidity control, clean rooms, BAS/BMS integration, reliability, maintenance, capital projects, and GMP compliance
.
You’ll work closely with Facilities Maintenance, Calibration, Instrumentation & Controls, Validation, and Quality while serving as the HVAC subject matter expert across manufacturing, QC labs, warehouses, and general facilities.
What You'll Be Doing- Lead the design, specification, selection, operation, and maintenance of HVAC and AHU systems supporting GMP manufacturing and non-GMP facilities.
- Own HVAC and humidity‑control systems serving clean rooms, QC laboratories, warehouses, offices, and other facility areas.
- Support reliable 24/7 operation of HVAC systems serving ISO 7 and less‑classified cleanroom environments
. - Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs, SOPs, troubleshooting practices, and corrective maintenance procedures.
- Partner with Maintenance, Calibration, I&C, Validation, and Quality teams on HVAC equipment and systems.
- Support integration of HVAC equipment with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) and Continuous Monitoring Systems.
- Serve as the HVAC technical lead on capital projects, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Validation (EPCCV) activities.
- Support GMP change controls, deviations, investigations, and equipment lifecycle activities.
- Develop HVAC equipment reliability strategies, spare‑parts programs, and CMMS job plans.
- Optimize HVAC operations for energy efficiency and sustainability while maintaining GMP compliance.
- Represent Facilities during regulatory inspections and audits involving GMP HVAC design, operation, and maintenance.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of HVAC experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or a closely related GMP environment.
- Strong understanding of HVAC/AHU systems supporting GMP manufacturing.
- Experience with clean rooms, including ISO 7 and/or Grade C environments
. - Experience with humidity‑control systems.
- Experience with HVAC design, implementation, maintenance, reliability, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with BAS/BMS and HVAC controls integration.
- Experience with a CMMS and maintenance planning.
- Experience working with calibration, validation, Quality, and Facilities teams.
- Experience supporting capital projects and/or EPCCV activities.
- Working knowledge of cGMP, GDP, FDA requirements, EU cleanroom classifications, and OSHA requirements
. - Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across functions without direct authority.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
